Raising Responsibly

since 2014

Do you know where your food comes from? If you don’t, you should! We believe you are what you eat and that knowing your farmer is essential. Our passion is providing organically raised clean meats and eggs that you can confidently feed your family.

In 2024 we obtained our Certified Naturally Grown status. This is a more prestigious certification than USDA organic and backs up our strict holistic practices on the farm.

We pride ourselves in being transparent with our customers. If you have a question about how we operate, please ask! We enjoy talking with you about our practices and educating on our natural methods of care.

How are we different?

And why it matters

Fresh Meats without Preservatives

Our meats are vacuum sealed and frozen at an USDA facility immediately after processing to maintain freshness. All cured meats are brined in Redmond salt instead of nitrates and our sausage is flavored with organic seasonings without MSG or BHT.

Pasture Raised

All of our animals have open access to pasture year round, mimicking their original environment in nature. Our hogs freely root up the pasture, our cows graze openly on grass, and our chickens are able to roam and forage across the property.

Regenerative & Sustainable

We choose to utilize our livestock to build the soil instead of depleting it. This is done through pasture rotation and multi-species cohabitation. Animals work better together! These methods help with sustainability by revitalizing the soil, breaking the parasitic cycle and allowing the land to recover before the next round of animals.

Supplemented with Organic Feed

All of our feed and supplements come from KOFFI in Kentucky. They are an Amish owned mill that provides the highest quality organic rations for our livestock. We are able to work personally with their nutritionist to formulate feeds that meet our strict ingredient requirements while also meeting our animals needs.

Redmond Salt & Minerals

In addition to clean feed, we provide Redmond minerals to our livestock to aid in healthy digestion and allow for proper nutritional balance. Our dairy girls also have access to a full organic mineral bar, allowing them to consume the specific minerals their body needs for its best performance.

No Soy, Wheat, Nuts or Canola

Soy and wheat are among the most heavily modified and sprayed grains. They are also inflammatory to the body, which is passed on to the consumer. We are proud to say that we are on the frontlines of raising animals without wheat and are the only farm in the Birmingham area with this practice! We do feed corn in minimum amounts to our dairy girls to maintain body condition.

No Hormones, Steroids, Antibiotics, or Chemicals

Our farm operates as naturally as possible, from the products we use in our home to our fields. We believe God created a plant for every ailment, which is why we do not administer any conventional medicine to our livestock unless it is a matter of life or death. Instead, we use organic supplements and essential oils to boost our animals when they need it.

No Pesticides, Herbicides, or Chemical Fertilizers

We do not believe in using any synthetics on our fields. Instead we use natural methods for weed prevention (Safeway Spray) and organic fertilizers such as Redmond conditioner and our own organic compost.

Our Own Breeding Stock

We invested time in sourcing our own breeding stock from across the southeast to ensure that our final products have been under our care from start to finish. To maintain the quality our customers have come to expect, we only raise and process our own animals and do not source meat from any other farms.

Only Heritage Breeds

Our farm is centered around heritage breeds which grow slower than commercial breeds. This slower growth allows for a leaner, more marbled product that is full of flavor.

Heritage breeds are more than animals

they’re our farming history

Heritage breeds are animals that were raised by our farming forefathers, many of which have been around for hundreds of years. These animals grow slower than the conventional breeds, but are more hardy and like to forage for their food. Due to the commercialization of farming many heritage breeds are rare and even endangered.

We chose to raise heritage breeds because we wanted to be different than the norm, while raising animals with history. Many of the breeds we raise have a 200+ year history in the US. Our goal is to raise awareness of the heritage breeds and rebuild their populations while raising our livestock in the most natural way possible.

As one of the only breeders of Tamworth’s in Alabama we have sold hogs to farms all over the southeast: Louisiana, Mississippi, Georgia, and Florida. We are also the only breeder of Galloway cattle in the state, and one of only a handful in the south. Each of the breeds we raise was carefully chosen based on availability, rarity, and product quality.

**On average we have piglets available twice per year, goats available once per year, and poultry available seasonally.
